Javorca, Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit High above the stream of the Tolminka rises a wooden shrine – the Memorial Church in Javorca. The Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca is dedicated to fallen Austro-Hungarian defenders of the Tolmin battlefield on the Soča (Isonzo) Front (1915–1917). As the finest monument to the First World War in the territory of Slovenia, in 2007 the church was classed as a historical monument bearing the European Cultural Heritage sign. It is also one of the stations along the historical Path of Peace trail, which links together monuments and remains from the First World War in the upper Soča region. Mengore

Mengore The area of Mengore hill (453 m) west from Most na Soči settlement was the core of the Austria-Hungary defense of the Soča River bridge-passage at town Tolmin. The defense line was heavily fortified with the defense trenches, shelters, artillery positions and caverns. The area was all the time of the eleven Italian offensives of Soča River front line from May 23rd 1915 to the September 13th, 1917 under the continuous siege and artillery cannonading. In the 12th offensive when the joined Austro-Hungarian and German troops attacked the Italian positions the Mengore area was the important starting point of the successful breaking trough and pushing the Italian army 90 km to the west to the Piave River.

Kolovrat Mountain

Kolovrat Kolovrat is about 3.5 km long mountain ridge with the elevations of about ~ 1100 m and is spanning in direction east-west above the right bank of Soča River. On the ridge of Kolovrat, east from the Livške Ravne settlement is a borderline between Italy and Slovenia. From the ridge are panoramic vistas to Julian Alps on the north and Veneto area all the way to the Adriatic Sea. In a time of the First World War the Italian Army built a network of fortified trenches, caverns, and artillery positions named »linea d' armata«. Italian army was monitoring the mountain battlefields on the left bank of Soča River between towns Tolmin and Kobarid.
