Austro-Hungarian Military Cemetery, Oševljek During World War I the area east of Vrtojba, rear area of the front, is where a number of war hospitals were set up and next to them cemeteries. In 1917 the cemetery in Oševljek was built. According to the Austrian archives the cemetery was called Mohorini. Austrian records from the war period are very scarce and it is impossible to confirm all of the names of the deceased and the exact position of the graves. After the end of World War I the Italian Military Authorities were in charge of handling the military cemeteries; they documented 957 soldiers and the same number of graves, 291 were recorded as unknown Austro-Hungarian soldiers.
